Being successful in Tears of the Kingdom means doing multiple things: making plenty of food and elixirs, upgrading your armor, and getting your hands on some strong weapons! As you progress through the story and fight stronger enemies, this becomes all the more important. When upgrading your gear, you’ll have to obtain various items, with Lizalfos tails being one of many required resources for doing this. Where to Find Lizalfos Tail in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (TOTK)
There are two main ways to get Lizalfos tails in Tears of the Kingdom:
- Defeat Lizalfos in Lanayru Wetlands and Lanayru Great Spring
- Purchase from the Kara Kara Bazaar
Where to Find Lizalfos and Stalizalfos in TOTK
The cheaper way to get Lizalfos tails is to fight Lizalfos in Lanayru Wetlands and Lanayru Great Spring. Here, the Lizalfos traverse the land and swim in the water. They’ll attack you on sight and often resort to long-range attacks if they’re in the water. Make sure to bring some arrows and a strong bow!
I found three Lizalfos enemies while exploring Lanayru, between the Wetlands and Great Spring, at coordinates (2372, 0230, 0016). While this isn’t the only location they spawn at, I can confirm firsthand that you’ll find them with enough searching around. Just make sure to keep your eyes on the water!

Once you defeat the Lizalfos, there’s a chance they’ll drop either their horn or tail! You’re not guaranteed to find their tail every time, so be prepared to fight multiple of these monsters if you need a bunch for armor upgrades.
Buying Lizalfos Tail From Kara Kara Bazaar
You can also head to Kara Kara Bazaar in the Gerudo Desert and buy some Lizalfos tails if you don’t mind spending some rupees. You can find the Bazaar and the vendor at coordinates (-3269, -2536, 0023), who’ll sell Lizalfos tails for 72 rupees each.
While they are in limited supply, they will restock over time, allowing you to return after finishing some side content or progressing through the story.
