The 1.6 update for Stardew Valley introduced countless new resources to collect, things to do, and secrets to discover. But one of the most mysterious and awesome secrets is the Meowmere sword from Terraria. Finding the Meowmere Sword can be a long and arduous quest, but we’ve got all the steps for you here so you can add the epic Terraria sword to your arsenal in Stardew Valley.
How to Get the Meowmere Sword from Terraria in Stardew Valley
Finding the Meowmere Sword is a three-step process. First, you must find an Ancient Doll. Then, you must sacrifice it by throwing it into a pool of lava. Any pool of lava will do, but the one you will have access to first is on floor 100 of the Mines. After throwing the doll into a pool of lava, a massive Bone Serpent (also from Terraria) will burst forth from the pit, dropping an item called the Far Away Stone right in your lap.
Take the Far Away Stone to the Wizard’s basement and place it on the tree stump on the right side of the room. A mysterious portal will open, an even more mysterious cat will walk out of it, and bam. You will be the new owner of the elusive Meowmere Sword!
It sounds like a simple enough process, and it is, but it can take a while to get started on this quest. The biggest roadblock to overcome is finding an Ancient Doll in the first place.
Where to Find Ancient Dolls in Stardew Valley
Ancient Dolls are very rare artifacts in Stardew Valley that can be found in fishing treasure chests and artifact troves if you’re lucky. The best way to find one, however, is by digging up artifact spots. Artifact spots are speckled all around the valley and can be identified by the three worms sticking out of them. Till the worms with your hoe to dig up the artifact spot and see what’s hiding underneath.
Artifact spots will spawn all year in every location in Stardew Valley. But if you’re looking for an Ancient Doll, you will want to search in the Mountain Lake area, the Bus Stop, Cindersap Forest, and the Pelican Town Center. Out of those four locations, the best places to search are the Bus Stop and Cindersap Forest. Those areas give you the highest chance of digging up an Ancient Doll.
Even then, the chances of finding one are only around 2.5%, so you may have to spend quite some time searching for your Ancient Doll. But visit those locations every day and dig up any artifact spots you can find, and you will find your Ancient Doll eventually.
How to Get the Far Away Stone
Getting your hands on an Ancient Doll is the most difficult part of the Meowmere quest. Unless, however, you haven’t reached floor 100 of the Mines yet. If you have, getting the Far Away Stone is as easy as hitching a ride on the elevator and throwing your Ancient Doll into the fiery pits to meet its demise.
If you’ve still got some battling through the Mines to reach that floor, don’t forget to visit the Adventurer’s Guild and check out what weapons and gear they have on offer. Having great gear and a good stash of snacks is essential for survival in the Mines.
You can also throw the Ancient Doll into any of the lava pits in the Volcano Dungeon on Ginger Island, but reaching Ginger Island is a whole quest in itself, and the Mines are much easier to access.
How to Get the Meowmere Sword
Once you are equipped with the Far Away Stone, you are ready for the final step of the quest, making your way to the Wizard’s basement. The Wizard doesn’t let just anyone into his basement, though. You will have to make friends with him first. You will need at least three hearts with the Wizard before he will let you in his mystical tower, so talk to him regularly and give him plenty of his favorite gifts to cultivate a thriving friendship with him. The Wizard loves Purple Mushrooms, Void Essence, Super Cucumbers, and Solar Essence. Shower him with those items, and you will be friends in no time.
Once inside the tower, make your way through the small hatch along the back wall to enter his basement. Place the Far Away Stone on the tree-like pillar on the far right, and receive your epic new sword!
The Meowmere Sword is a level four weapon that boasts 20 – 20 damage, +4 speed, and +2 weight. It also has the added benefit of looking super cute. And out of all the other awesome additions to Stardew Valley in the 1.6 update, like Powdermelon, Carrots, and Broccoli, the Meowmere Sword is, by far, the most entertaining secret to uncover.
