Misty Step is a spell that allows you to teleport to any available space within seeing distance in Baldur’s Gate 3. This vastly increases your movement distance and even allows you to travel through walls as long as you can view the space beyond it. Misty Step is incredibly handy, but not everyone can learn it. If you want to know how to get your hands on this valuable spell, we will show you the fastest and easiest way to get it.
How to Learn Misty Step in Baldur’s Gate 3
Misty Step is a level 2 Conjuration spell that can be learned by the following classes:
- Wizard
- Warlock
- Sorcerer
- Githyanki (Level 5 spell)
It can also be learned by the following subclasses:
- Circle of the Land: Coast (Druid)
- Circle of the Land: Underdark (Druid)
- Oath of Ancients (Paladin)
- Oath of Vengeance (Paladin)
- Gloom Stalker (Ranger)
If none of the above classes or subclasses apply to you, you can still get Misty Step with the following items:
- Amulet of Misty Step
- Disintegrating Night Walkers
- Boots of Very Fast Blinking
- Scroll of Misty Step
Out of all the above items, the fastest and most reliable one to procure is the Amulet of Misty Step. The Scroll of Misty Step is consumed upon use, making it a temporary fix. The Boots of Very Fast Blinking can be won at the Spinning Wheel at the Circus of the Last Days (if you’re lucky), which is in Act 3. Besides the long wait to get them, the Boots of Fast Blinking also remove your clothes, leaving you naked and vulnerable. For obvious reasons, there are better ways to get your hands on Misty Step.
The Disintegrating Night Walkers are a good option that can be looted from True Soul Nere in the Underdark, which is reasonably early in your adventure. But if you want the spell as soon as possible, The Amulet of Misty Step is the best option.
Where to Get the Amulet of Misty Step
The Amulet of Misty Step is an item belonging to Priestess Gut at the Shattered Sanctum. Of course, gaining access to Priestess Gut’s personal Gilded Chest requires besting her in battle first. After doing so, loot her corpse to get your hands on the key to her quarters. You can find her quarters to the left of the large, central area with a glowing red bone statue propped up in the center.
Priestess Gut’s quarters are guarded by a large troll hand-maiden. You will either have to beat her in battle or persuade your way inside the quarters, making sure she’s not looking before you swipe the Amulet of Misty Step from the Gilded Chest on the far side of the room.
If you missed the Amulet in the Shattered Sanctum, there is a chance you could trade for it with Omeluum at the Myconid Colony in the Underdark. You must complete his associated quests before he will trade with you. But once you do, the Amulet of Misty Step has a chance of appearing in his tradeable goods. If Omeluum offers the Amulet of Misty Step, you will no longer be able to get it at the Sanctum.
This prevents you from getting two Amulets, but you can still steal Nere’s boots if you really want someone else in your party to be able to use Misty Step. And there’s always the Boots of Very Fast Blinking if you care more about Misty Step than your clothes.
