While befriending so many lovable creatures around the wizarding world, players may find themselves reaching the species limit when adding beasts into their Vivariums. After all, you can only jam so many creatures into one area; so continue reading to learn how to increase the species limit in Hogwarts Legacy.
How to Increase Species Limit in Hogwarts Legacy
You cannot increase your species limit on Vivariums in Hogwarts Legacy. However, you can get more Vivariums which allow you to tame and capture more beast species.
To be exact, you can own four different Vivariums in Hogwarts Legacy. Each Vivarium can contain 12 different creatures or beasts. This means that in total, you can house 48 different creatures at a time in Hogwarts Legacy.
However, each Vivarium can only house four different species!
In a Vivarium, you’re limited to four distinct species. For instance, having a Phoenix, Niffler, Fwooper, and Puffskein means you can only populate the remaining spaces with duplicates of those already present in the Vivarium.
At the moment, this number cannot be increased, however it may be increased by way of DLC in the future. So let the developers know if you would like to see an increase to the species limit in Hogwarts Legacy!
So, while you cannot technically upgrade your Vivarium in Hogwarts Legacy, you can get four Vivariums in total.
How to Unlock More Vivariums in Hogwarts Legacy
Unlocking Vivariums is the only way to have a higher species limit in Hogwarts Legacy. Having more Vivariums will also allow players to add more slots to house creatures.
While the story will lead you to your first Vivarium, players will need to complete additional side quests to unlock the other three Vivariums:
All Vivariums and How to Unlock them in Hogwarts Legacy
Listed below are all four Vivariums in Hogwarts Legacy and how to unlock them:
- Default Vivarium: Available once players complete “The Elf, the Nab-sack, and the Loom” quest.
- Coastal Vivarium: Available once players complete “The Plight of the House-Elf” quest.
- Swamp Vivarium: Available once players complete “Foal of the Dead” quest.
- Meadow Vivarium: Available once players complete “Phoenix Rising” quest.
Maxing out these Vivariums will put you at the species limit cap, however, if you’re busting at the seams with more species you can handle, you can sell any unwanted beasts at the Brood and Peck shop in Hogsmeade. That way you can save your Vivarium slots for only shiny beasts if desired.
Selling your extra species at Brood and Peck will net you a quick profit, and it’s an excellent way to make money if you’re short on cash. You can also make use of breeding pens in your Vivariums to continuously increase your species and keep the cash flow going.
Now that you know how to increase your species limit in Hogwarts Legacy, it is time to get out there and find some shiny beasts! And if you’re having trouble deciding which species you should keep in your Vivarium, we’ve got you covered.
