So, maybe Emma has kicked us out of the house. Maybe our new Gulf War and horror-fanatic buddy refused to come with us. But we are not alone, brave Slayer, because we have each other. And possibly other people, if you have opted to play the game co-op.

But it is likely that you have hit the dead-end sphincter of the LA sewers. Once the narrow, caca-encrusted tunnels open up, you will find yourself in a room with a shallow pool of water, the sluice gate you need to get through to get to Venice Beach, and two locked doors.

Interact with the sluice gate and you will find that it is locked. To get inside, we will need to get into the room with a security gate lock that is being absolutely bathed in caustic gas.

The key is likely where you least expect. Head towards the sluiced gate, then towards the barred window beside it. There, on a desk, you will see a book. You might think that you need to get inside the door to interact with this book… but nope! You can actually grab it right through the bars.

And as luck would have it, it is the Instruction Manual which has the Gate Code scrawled onto the bottom of it. Now you just need to interact with the security gate code and accept whatever consequences come your way.

Once you get to Venice Beach, you will get the ability to fast travel. Here is our guide on how to do just that: How to Fast Travel in Dead Island 2.
