This guide goes over the requirements to recruit Momo in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, as well as the quest you go on before he joins your party.
How to Recruit Momo in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes
Initiating Momo’s Recruitment Quest
You can begin the quest to recruit Momo in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes after the story events in Athrabalt. Once you’ve completed the Athrabalt story segment, head to the southern end of Hishahn. When you’re there, a scene will play out where you meet Momo and are taken to the Seaside Cavern. You can leave to prepare your party or do any other content you’d like at any time, and you can return to the Seaside Cavern when you’re ready to proceed with the recruitment quest.
Preparing Your Party
As part of the quest to recruit Momo, you’ll battle a boss creature that is weak to Earth. Talk to Ymir on the first floor in your HQ to place characters with Earth spells in your party before heading out. Alternatively, you can equip some of your characters with Earth Magic Runes, like Rune of Stone, so you can hit the boss’s weak point.
In The Seaside Cavern
The Seaside Cavern is an optional area in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes that you can explore early on, long before you can meet Momo. If you ventured in here earlier, you may have noticed an impassable seal in the northwest corner of the map. When you arrive at the seal with Momo, he will take it down, and you’ll enter a room where you engage in a boss battle with a Kraken.
Battling the Kraken
The Kraken is a strong but simple boss. It is weak to Earth, so use Earth spells on it whenever you can. The Kraken can target single characters with its tentacles, or your entire front row with a splash attack. To prevent the Kraken from using the splash attack, use the battle’s gimmick to open the floodgates immediately.
Kraken Battle Gimmick
There is a multi-part gimmick you can use in the battle against the Kraken. The first part is to open the floodgates, lowering the water level. Do this to stop the Kraken from using its splash attack and to reveal the harpoon gun.
Once the water level is lowered, you can use a character to load the harpoon gun. On the next turn, the same character can fire the harpoon gun. It will deal 600 damage to the Kraken. Continue to make use of the harpoon gun to deal major damage to the Kraken every other turn.
Once you defeat the Kraken, it will drop a Rune of Pure Water, and Momo will take you to the start of the dungeon and join your team permanently. He is the strongest magic user in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, so he’s worth keeping around. There is also a Rune of SP in the treasure chest in the room where the Kraken was, so head back there to pick it up.
When you want to take a break from recruiting characters, you should take the opportunity to farm for Excellent Lacquer and improve your town buildings.
