Dawntrail, Final Fantasy XIV‘s newest expansion, has officially launched for early access pre-order players, and includes two brand-new DPS jobs – Viper and Pictomancer. If you’re looking to tap into your creative side while dealing the cutest magical spells possible, continue reading to learn how to unlock the Pictomancer job in FFXIV: Dawntrail.
Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail Pictomancer Quest Location
To unlock the Pictomancer job, you’ll need to accept the quest “The Joy of Pictomancy” from the Cheerless Healer NPC in Old Gridania (X:8.0, Y:10.3). You can easily reach the NPC by teleporting to the Conjurer’s Guild aetheryte crystal.
Progressing through the quest will eventually lead you to a hopeful Moogle looking for the most worthy future-owner of the Pictomancer soul crystal. But before they hand over the soul crystal, you’ll have to sit down and interview for the job.
Don’t worry, your answers won’t affect the outcome of the quest, and are simply there to spice up the conversation. Answer the Moogle’s questions in the job interview and complete the quest to unlock Pictomancer.
Requirements for Unlocking Pictomancer in FFXIV
To unlock Pictomancer in FFXIV, you must meet the following requirements:
- Have at least one level 80 Disciple of War/Magic job
- Have purchased the Dawntrail expansion
Because the quest is located in a starting city, you do not need to have completed the Endwalker storyline to accept it.
Both Pictomancer and Viper start at level 80 when unlocked, so if you’re looking to progress through the Dawntrail MSQ with them, you’ll first need to grind them up to level 90. What is Pictomancer in FFXIV?
Pictomancer is the newest magical ranged DPS job in Final Fantasy XIV, equipped with a magicked brush and several canvases. By painting various motifs, the Pictomancer can materialize their artistic creations, reigning magical, painted spells down on their foes.
Casting spells and painting motifs will affect the Pictomancer’s Canvases and Palette Gauge. Once enough resources are accrued, more advanced spells can be cast using White Paint and the gauge meter.
