Alan Wake 2 may be making its way to modern consoles, but what’s to be said about the previous generation? Here’s whether Alan Wake 2 is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Will Alan Wake 2 Be Playable on PS4 and Xbox One?
As of writing, Alan Wake 2 has no plans to come to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. If you ask me, it’s extremely likely that it never will. This is due to the sheer processing power the game requires to run. One look at the system requirements on PC, and the writing should pretty much be on the wall for it.
According to those requirements, running the game at 30 FPS on 1080p at Low requires an RTX 2060 and i5-7600K, both requirements being a good distance beyond what either console is capable of. Anything even beyond that just blows them out of the water. The Series X|S and PS5 can handle it just fine, but not previous hardware.
While this is a shame for any of you who own those previous consoles, it’s a natural progression in the industry. Games have to move beyond previous hardware and make use of the cutting-edge technology featured on later devices. Its also been three years since the launch of next-gen, so it’s about time they were required to run new AAA titles.
Will Alan Wake 2 Come to Any Other Consoles?
From our research, it seems like there are currently no plans for Alan Wake 2 to release anywhere but PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It could come to cloud services, alongside the rumored Switch 2, but take that with a grain of salt for the time being. If that changes, we’ll be sure to update this section.
