Fans have raised their concern about Dragon’s Dogma 2 being supposedly locked to running on 30 FPS despite being one of the most visually pleasing recent releases. Is Dragon’s Dogma 2 locked to 30 FPS, or is it possible to bump it higher? We have your answer below.
Is Dragon’s Dogma 2 Locked to 30 FPS?
While Dragon’s Dogma 2 has uncapped FPS, it will still run close to 30 FPS at all times on consoles. The uncapped bit was confirmed by director Hideaki Itsuno himself through his account on X (formerly Twitter). The 30 FPS bit was confirmed later by the hands-on previews, and many have mentioned this small aspect.
This is something strange to see as we usually associate uncapping FPS with PC releases alone. What this means for console players is that while the game could theoretically reach 60 FPS or higher, it will remain close to half of that. There are also no visual adjustments to be made in the console release, so there’s no way to get extra FPS by lowering your settings.
As for the PC release, it should theoretically be possible to reach 60 FPS with a powerful enough machine. So as long as the uncapped bit is also true here, you should be able to reach new heights on that. But as we don’t have any actual gameplay demo for the game, it’s hard to say if most PCs would be able to reach big numbers in it. As amazing as the character creator is, it can’t be used as a good way of measuring that.
So yeah, there’s a good chance that we can run Dragon’s Dogma 2 on more than 30 FPS on PC. But there’s no way to be sure if the Recommended specs will be enough for that until everyone can test the game by themselves. It’ll be here soon enough, though, so don’t worry about that.
