With the absence of E3 this year, we had a June full of smaller presentations from Summer Game Fest to Xbox & Bethesda Showcase, so Capcom held its own separate presentation as well where we found out what the renowned Japanese developer is up to. In addition to the announcement of the Resident Evil 4 Remake and Exoprimal gameplay, we learned that Capcom is also planning to refresh Resident Evil Village with a major update that will bring many new features into the 2021 hit game.
Resident Evil Village is getting a brand new story DLC featuring a grown-up version of Rose, many new playable characters in Mercenaries mode – including Heisenberg and infamous Lady Dimitrescu – and even a full PSVR2 version. But is Resident Evil Village getting a third-person mode? Find out below.
Is Resident Evil Village Getting a 3rd-Person Mode?
As it was announced during the Capcom Showcase 2022 event – yes, Resident Evil Village is indeed getting a third-person mode as a part of the big upcoming update.

Most of the classic Resident Evil games had an over-the-shoulder perspective, starting from Resident Evil 4 up to the most recent remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3. The first game to make the change to the FPS view was Resident Evil 7, which Village followed brilliantly, but now players will finally be able to experience the last chapter of popular survival horror in the old-school way, watching Ethan from over his shoulder.
Short gameplay footage from this perspective that was shown on Capcom’s presentation reminded us very much of good old Resident Evil 4, and we can’t wait to play Resident Evil Village again in this mode when this DLC package is released on October 28th. The Resident Evil Village Gold Edition will also be available on the same date, featuring the base game and the new DLC.
