Like with most Early Access games, the question of save wipes and early access progress carrying over to the full version is raised for Last Epoch as well. Let’s have a look at what will happen with the Last Epoch regarding the save wipe.
Will there be a Save Wipe in Last Epoch after Early Access Ends?
The developers of Last Epoch (Eleventh Hour Games) have confirmed numerous times on their official Discord server that a save wipe will not happen after the full release of Last Epoch. The save files in Early Access are “offline-only” at the moment, and you will be able to keep them and use them…
However, these will remain “offline-only,” and they will not be able to be “trusted” in online multiplayer after the Last Epoch is fully released. But then, what will we be able to do with our Early Access characters?
What Will Happen With the Early Access Progress in Last Epoch?
There has been a hint by the Last Epoch developers that somewhere down the line, a “Legacy” format might be introduced, where players will be able to make custom battles with their “Legacy” characters.
Other than that, Last Epoch will have “cycles” (something like seasons).
All of your characters will be server-side from 1.0, so there won’t be a way to “edit” your characters’ save files and do all sorts of shenanigans. This includes exploit and bug abuse, which should also be prevented server-side.
After a “cycle” (season) ends, your current season characters move to the Legacy category, along with the rest of your Early Access characters.
All in all, it looks like a promising experience; we will have to wait and see what happens after the full release.
Last Epoch will be released on February 21, 2024, on Windows (Steam), Linux, and Mac.
