After being initially revealed, it was confirmed that Persona 3 Reload would change some elements from the original PS2 game to bring it to modern standards, with its gameplay resembling Persona 5. But did the main story get the same treatment, going up to the point of changing certain events?
Is Persona 3 Reload’s Story Different From the Original?
As was stated in many previous interviews, Persona 3 Reload is a faithful remake. This implies that no major changes to the story will be made, as they want to preserve the original feeling from the 2006 title as much as possible.
While new scenes regarding the main plot were added or older scenes were slightly altered/expanded, the overall plot is mostly the same. An example would be the new S.E.E.S uniforms showcased in many trailers, which make their debut after a few months into the game. While they add more details and weight to the Tartarus exploration sections, they ultimately don’t make a significant change in the main plot.
More changes include new scenes and extra events for non-Social Link characters (such as the male party members), as well as the previously mentioned combat changes that put it more in line with modern titles from the series. But aside from that, there were no substantial plot changes added in Reload.
The playable epilogue The Answer was confirmed to not be included in the game, so the story is completely done at the same point the original game ended.
While players have already crafted theories about how this version could be different and give a new twist to some core moments of the original, that was unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your point of view) not the case here.
No extra content DLC has been announced either, but we may get some kind of The Answer content later down the line. The same may not said about the FeMc.
