If you’ve managed to wrap up Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice already, first of all, well done you, that was likely no easy feat. With the story complete, you may be interested in starting again in New Game Plus. Doing so will send you back to the beginning, but you’ll be able to hold on to certain parts of your gear. In this guide we’ll explain how to start New Game Plus in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, as well as what to expect from it.
New Game Plus in Sekiro is handled much the same as in Dark Souls or Bloodborne. Choosing to start over will see you face stronger enemies, but also receive greater rewards. To start New Game Plus you’ll need to have beaten the final boss, which should go without saying, really. Return to the Dilapidated Temple and sit down at the Sculptor’s Idol here. You can now select the option to start New Game Plus, which when accepted will reset you to the start of the game.
Enemies in New Game Plus will all hit harder and you’ll lose any keys you’d stored in your inventory, but there is some good news here. Any NPCs afflicted with dragonrot will also be reset, and plenty of items will carry over from your previous world. Here’s everything you get to keep:
- All prosthetic tools
- All skills and abilities
- All Consumables like upgrade materials and sugars
- Gourd seeds/Healing Gourd charges
- Prayer beads
- Current Attack Power
- All Sen and Spirit Emblems
Because your Gourd Seeds and Prayer beads carry over, all the enemies or chests that previously contained them will now hold new items for you to earn. Keeping all of these items won’t make New Game Plus an easier time though. Enemies now deal enormous posture damage, meaning you’ll need to deflect the majority of attacks to survive. The same tactics will still apply against bosses though, so you can still make use of our other guides to help you out!
