Honkai: Star Rail’s 1.1 update is live and our banners for this duration are split between Silver Wolf and Luocha, with a lot of players themselves split on who to pull for. For both free-to-play players and those who spend money in the game, it can be quite difficult to decide between two amazing characters when Honkai: Star Rail is delivering such fun and unique builds. Here are some details to keep in mind to help you choose your decision with our personal opinion on who will be more useful in the long run.
Preface on the Silver Wolf Vs. Luocha: Who to Pull For
Now, this article isn’t meant to be a dig at people who chose one way or another. Players are going to choose who they want regardless of what a guide may recommend since it isn’t always a factor of, “Who is the best unit?” Characters are chosen and looked at for their personality, elements, gameplay, role in the story, and for so much more than what a guide can allow. This particular guide is just for those who feel the itch to pull during this update and who are indecisive about who to go for, or who may want a little bit of the meta and what will be better long-term or filling out gaps in their team. It can be really hard to make a decision with all the unique and fun builds in Honkai: Star Rail.
Who is the Best Character to Pull For: Silver Wolf or Luocha in Honkai: Star Rail?
The best character to pull for during this next phase of Honkai: Star Rail is definitely going to be Luocha. Now, to explain a bit of my reasoning behind this decision, let’s take a look at these characters’ Elements, Paths, and Gameplay among the current roster of characters.
Silver Wolf Pros
First with Silver Wolf since she’s first in the patch, our hacker girl is going to be a Quantum Nihility character who can create some pretty awesome debuffs against enemies as well as introduce additional elements to the team to better fight back against enemy weaknesses. As a Quantum character, Silver Wolf is quite invaluable since there are only a handful of them in the game as of now, with the others being Seele and Qingque. Now if you didn’t pull for Seele, Silver Wolf looks all the better in terms of filling out gaps in the team, but what downgrades her current stance more is her Path.
With Silver Wolf coming in as part of Nihility, she’s great for applying more weaknesses on enemies, but the pool for Nihility is much larger than that of the Quantum characters and will only continue to grow as we head into 1.2. Kafka has already been revealed to be a Nihility character, so in terms of filling out gaps in your team, Silver Wolf has less value in comparison to Luocha.
There is also a very minimal concern about her skills becoming less and less effective as the game eventually gets harder. If you didn’t know, Silver Wolf can apply a special debuff that works 85% of the time and as enemies get more resistant and tougher either due to power levels, future bosses, or higher Equilibriums, this will get harder to trigger. But I don’t think this will be as massive of an issue just yet since there are many ways to combat this margin of error by either focusing on Effect Hit Rate in certain Stats or Substats.

Luocha Pros
On the other half of the banner, we have Luocha, who will be released along with Yukong. Luocha will be an Imaginary Abundance character, therefore a healer, and Yukong will be an Imaginary Harmony character that will buff character damage with her skill and burst.
Luocha’s benefit comes from his rare Element since, when his banner begins, he will be one of the three Imaginary characters that exist in Honkai: Star Rail as a whole. This can help to fill a gap that players who don’t currently own Welt may have and help with breaking more types of enemy weaknesses in the future. Now, Yukong will also be available so it may not be as rare as before, but Luocha is already quite valuable based on his element alone.
The other factor is that he will also be one of the three healers that exist in Honkai: Star Rail with the others being Bailu and Natasha, only one of them being available for free. Between his Element and Path, Luocha proves to be quite the rare type of character even amongst the next few character banners that will follow after 1.1. And while it isn’t entirely necessary for your team to always have a healer among their numbers, it helps not to have to deal with a dead character. Honkai: Star Rail does not have any healing items, so when a character takes damage that brings them into the red, there’s no fixing it like in a standard RPG. Along with his healing scale off of his attack, he’ll help deal damage against enemy weaknesses while keeping your other teammates alive and healthy.
Now, players will pull for who they want come banner time, but if you are having a difficult time deciding, hopefully, this article has cleared up some pros and cons about both characters for 1.1. This is not meant to poke jabs if you choose one character over another, it’s meant to be helpful to those who want to pull during 1.1, but there are too many great characters to choose from.
