Lizards, frogs, and other small critters in Tears of the Kingdom are crucial for armor upgrades and elixir creation. Whether you’re looking for weather resistance or an elixir to help you climb icy walls, you’ll first have to collect various resources in the wild and at shops. Hightail lizards are one of many examples, but fortunately, you can get your hands on these little reptiles early on in your playthrough. If you want to learn more, continue reading to discover how to get Hightail lizards in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Hightail Lizard Locations in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Hightail lizards in TOTK commonly spawn around Hyrule Field and Hyrule Ridge‘s cliffsides and caves. One of the best places to farm them is around Satori Mountain at coordinates (-2098, -0329, 0293). When I searched this spot, I found six lizards on my first visit!
Be careful while you’re searching, though! If you run around aimlessly, you may scare them off, causing them to disappear until you return another time. Once you approach an area full of lizards, crouch down and slowly approach them. Better yet, equip the Stealth armor set to make it even easier.
Buying From Beedle
If you don’t want to go around farming for Hightail lizards, I have good news: Beedle has you covered! Beedle’s Lakeside Stable and South Akkala Stable inventories have Hightail lizards for 10 rupees each.
The downside is that he only sells two at Lakeside and three at South Akkala, so you won’t be able to stockpile dozens of lizards with this method. If you only need a few more for your upgrades, though, it’s a solid option.
What Are Hightail Lizards Used For in TOTK?
One of the main uses of Hightail lizards is to upgrade the Climbing Gear armor set. This upgrade from level two to three requires Electric Keese wings, Hightail lizards, and some rupees. Fortunately, the Satori Mountain spot I described above will net you enough lizards for one upgrade. After a few visits and a trip or two to Beedle, you’ll quickly have enough for the rest.

You can also use them with monster parts to create elixirs. Hightail lizards, in particular, make Hasty Elixirs that increase your movement speed, allowing you to run faster for a few minutes!
