As you encounter new players in Helldivers 2, you may notice that they have unique titles that showcase their journey through the worlds they’ve helped liberate. So what is Super Citizen status in Helldivers 2, and how do you get it?
What is Super Citizen Status in Helldivers 2?
In Helldivers 2, Super Citizen Status is a special Title that you can give to your character. You can change your character’s Title to Super Citizen in the character customization menu:
- Access the Armory on your ship.
- Tab over to “Character.”
- Tab over to “Title.”
- Select “Super Citizen” or any other Title you want to give your character.
But Super Citizen status is only available to specific players, so if you don’t see it listed under your available Titles, you probably don’t have access to it yet.
How To Get Super Citizen Status in Helldivers 2
There are a variety of different editions of Helldivers 2 — the standard Helldivers 2 coming in at $39.99 and the Super Citizen Edition which retails for $59.99. To claim the Super Citizen status for your character, you need to purchase the Super Citizen Edition. Doing this will give you the Title alongside a special set of Armor that is unavailable to those who bought just the base game.
If you’ve purchased or plan on purchasing the Super Citizen version of Helldivers 2, you’ll receive the following items:
- ‘DP-53 Savior of the Free’ Armour Set.
- ‘Will of the People’ Cape.
- ‘MP-98 Knight’ Weapon.
- Super Citizen Status.
- Stratagem Hero Ship Game.
- ‘Steeled Veterans’ Premium Warbond.
Is There A Super Citizen Edition Upgrade For Helldivers 2?
If you’re feeling a bit of FOMO from these special items, you’ll be glad to know that both PlayStation and Steam users can pay $20.00 to upgrade their game to the Super Citizen Edition, allowing them to still claim Super Citizen status. If you want to try out Helldivers 2 for a while before investing, this could help you save $20, or make it hard to resist spending the extra cash.
Is The Super Citizen Version of Helldivers 2 Worth It?
If you’re a fan of extra cosmetic options, Super Citizen is almost a no-brainer to pick up if you have been enjoying your time with Helldivers 2. You’ll get a beautiful, winged Helmet and access to a Premium Warbond that will allow you to unlock even more cosmetics and weapons. But if you’re not a fan of spending the extra $20 to get this Warbond, you can grind the included standard Warbond to get enough Super Credits to unlock it for free.
Since Helldivers has a very passionate fanbase, it’s easy to see why many would flock to the Super Citizen edition off the bat — it still costs less than a standard AAA release at the moment, comes with more content, and offers players a chance to showcase that they’ve purchased this particular edition of the game. That may be more than enough for some players straight away.
The fact that you also get access to a special mini-game that you can play on your Warship is also neat, and while it’s not the most in-depth thing you’ll ever encounter, it offers a nice distraction between blasting bugs and bots. For an extra $20, you could unlock plenty of content here or purchase one skin in a different Live Service game. I think I know what I would do in the name of Democracy.
Can You Unlock Super Citizen Status Through Gameplay in Helldivers 2?
While you can unlock a fair number of cosmetics throughout gameplay and by purchasing them through the Super Credits store — as long as your Super Credits don’t go missing — you may have never seen the DP-53 Savior of the Free come through the revolving shop. That’s because there is no current way to unlock these through regular gameplay and are only allowed to be worn by those who have Super Citizen status.
If you have a generous teammate, however, they can drop the exclusive MP-98 Knight Submachine gun for other players to use. It’s a powerful package overall with plenty of firepower and speed to make quick work of both the Terminids and the Automatons during Defend Campaigns. While you may not have the chance to give up your armor, a weapon will surely be enough for most players to consider upgrading to this version of the game.
Is The Super Citizen Bundle Pay To Win in Helldivers 2?
There has been a bit of controversy regarding the Super Citizen edition of Helldivers 2, with some players claiming that it’s “Pay to Win” regarding some of the buffs for Armor. Thankfully, this is not the case as another suit of Armor within the game features the same benefits that you can receive — DP40 Hero of the Federation. With the perk Democracy Protects, you’ll have a much easier time surviving no matter which planet you choose to land on. So, don’t worry about this pack being deemed pay-to-win — it really isn’t. The Knight is a great gun, but there are better ones available to all players.
