Two builds dominated the meta in Season 2, so it was only a matter of time before changes were made in Season 3 of Diablo 4 to the best classes. Before you jump into the Season of the Construct, make sure you know what the best class is and which builds define it.
The Best Class in Diablo 4 Season 3
In Season 3 of Diablo 4, the best class is the Barbarian and it’s not even close. Multiple builds for the Barb are considered top tier within the Season of the Construct, and for some reason, one of them was the best in Season 2 as well. Hammer of the Ancients dominated the Season of Blood along with the Ball Lightning Sorcerer. However, Ball Lightning was nerfed enough to knock it down a few tiers along with the full Sorcer class.
The only other class that is competitive to the Barbarian in Season 3 is technically the Druid. Every season, the Druid has builds such as Tornado or Pulverize that stand out among the other Nightmare Dungeon options. Pulverize has fallen in viability, and while Druid has some top-tier options, many builds are tough to use and ultimately fall flat.
Compared to every other class, the Barbarian is fairly simple to build and it has multiple options for structuring. Although Hammer of the Ancients remains in the top rankings for Diablo 4 Season 3, Double Swing and Rend are also back in the spotlight. If you want plenty of variety in your build and the potential to nuke bosses, the Barbarian is your best bet in the Season of the Construct.
As for the other classes, Necromancer still has a top-tier Bone Spear build. I used the Bone Spear build in Season 2 to take down Uber Lilith and get through the Abattoir of Zir. In theory, the build has only become more viable, so definitely try it out if you insist on playing Necromancer this season. And for those of you who play Rogue, many of the same builds are great; they just aren’t top-of-the-line.
Once you have your build, get going on farming materials like Shattered Stone in the new season.
