Just like the previous game, you can take on Ganondorf in one final test of strength at any point in Tears of the Kingdom, as long as you know where to look. I took the time to find the Demon King Ganondorf location with just six hearts to my name so that you don’t have to guess. Just keep in mind that winning the battle is a different story, but if you are brave enough, I can lead you there. Here’s where to find Ganondorf in Tears of the Kingdom.
Where to Find Ganondorf in Tears of the Kingdom (TOTK)
You can find Ganondorf below Hyrule Castle, all the way at the bottom of the Depths, which is where Tears of the Kingdom kicks off. The coordinates to find the entrance of his lair are (-0230, 0868, 0123). There are plenty of steps to reaching Ganon in TOTK, and you need to start by landing below Hyrule Castle on the southern side.
The easiest way to get there is to use the Lookout Landing Skyview Tower and glide all the way to the Gatehouses on the bottom tier of Hyrule Castle. Before going on this journey though, I recommend making as many Stamina Elixirs and Gloom-resistant recipes as you possibly can. As long as you can continue to refill your resources, you can make it to Ganondorf at any level.
When you get to the castle and you are standing on the ledge, it’s time to jump down the massive cavern. You need to dive and float all the way to the bottom until you reach Gloom’s Approach. This is where the true path leading to the most important battle in the game begins.
How to Find Ganondorf Under Hyrule Castle in Tears of the Kingdom (TOTK)
After you glide to the bottom of Gloom’s Approach under Hyrule Castle, you need to turn around and look south. Use the chasm marker on your map if you need to point yourself in the right direction. If you look directly south from where you dropped, there will be another small cavern entrance with a Like Like guarding it.
The next step is to run toward this entrance and glide down. Nearly every area in this guide is going to require gliding or climbing mixed with plenty of Gloom and dangerous enemies. This cavern in particular will have two openings at the bottom and it doesn’t matter which one you choose.

As soon as you glide through one of the openings, there will be three electric Keese. Don’t be too frightened of them because they can barely do any damage. However, they can certainly stun you. I made sure to glide past them as fast as possible. Then I went to the ledge ahead and used my glider to reach the broken bridge on the left side.
Be careful though, because if you fall, the enemy in the center of the arena will hit you like a truck. I died instantly after missing just one jump. You must reach this entrance without dying at the bottom to access the next part of the path to Ganondorf in Tears of the Kingdom.
After getting past the Keese and reaching the next path, there is a small break from enemies. Run down the hall fileld with gloom until you reach a room that has falling debris. Jump on to the debris to the farthest right and use the Recall ability. This will take you up to the next area like an elevator. Take a deep breath on here because the path only gets worse.
After stepping off the debris there is another path ahead that leads to another drop. I know, it’s a shocker that the path keeps leading to more chasms, but I promise you it doesn’t stop. Try to land away from the gloom and then there is another dangerous path ahead.
How to Find the Ganondorf Imprisoning Chamber in TOTK
There will be a path up ahead that splits. Take the path to the left that contains a handful of Ice Keese and Ice Like Likes. In the same manner as the Electric Keese, these enemies can’t kill you very easily, but they can stun you much easier. At this section I lost half my health to Gloom effects because I was constantly stunned. I made it to the other side without dying though, and I found another room with a broken bridge.
The goal here is to glide to the left side where there is some higher ground clear of Gloom. As soon as you land, you need to sprint to the left side and climb up the side of the broken bridge. I died to Gloom Hands once here because I didn’t realize they were right behind me. Don’t make the same mistake I did and climb up the bridge as fast as you can. Jump up the wall and simply drink an Elixir.
If you make it to the top, you have an easy checkpoint, even if the massive Bokoblin waiting there takes you out. Why do I know it’s a checkpoint? Because it killed me three times. Don’t ask how, but it did.
Run down the hallway following the checkpoint and there will another hole to jump down. At the bottom, there is a small corridor with Gloom-inflicted enemies. Having some sort of blunt weapon is required here to crush the rocks. After crushing the first rock wall in the door, there is another room with rocks covering the way. Look to the right side and you will see more grey rocks to destroy.
At this point, you might be thinking, “where does the next path take me?” If you guessed jump down another dark hole, you deserve all the Korok poo in Hyrule. Walk up to the ledge and you will see the Imprisonment Chamber for Ganondorf appear. Jump down into the chasm.
This area leads to more Gloom than anywhere else and if you listen close, the music starts to drastically change. That means you are going in the right direction and it might be time to gear up.
Make the full dive and reach the bottom of the chamber where there is a large room. Only one path leads forward, so it’s impossible to get lost here. At the end of this path, there is another surprise. And yes, it’s a big drop down a dark hole. Only this time, it’s THE drop into THE dark hole. There is a prompt to jump and it will bring you to the first arena before the main fight with Ganondorf in Tears of the Kingdom.
Defeat his minions and take one final walk before fighting Demon King Ganondorf. Also, it’s important to note that you can get here super early into the game, but that doesn’t mean you can win the fight. I had six hearts when I first reached the arena and I was stomped instantly. Unless you are a Zelda prodigy, I would wait for some better gear.
Even if you just want to check out the area, at least this is good practice for when you do truly want to face Ganondorf. Either way, there is no commitment and you can always just travel out if you need to. When you have the power you need, come back to end it all.
