Late in Hogwarts Legacy, you can gain access to the Graphorn mount, allowing you to get around quicker, and breed massive, dog-like pets. But when and where you’ll find Graphorns is not immediately obvious, so we’re here to help: here’s where to find Graphorns in Hogwarts Legacy.
Where to Find a Graphorn in Hogwarts Legacy
Graphorns in Hogwarts Legacy make their dens on the Clagmar Coast. But before you can get to the Clagmar Coast, you’ll need to first investigate the coastal mine as a part of the Lodgok’s Loyalty main quest. This quest comes rather late in the game and proceeds your fourth and final trial, San Bakar’s Trial, where you’ll engage with a Graphorn for the first time.
After completing Lodgok’s Loyalty and talking with the Keepers at the Map Chamber, you’ll gain an objective to meet with the “Lord of the Shore,” a massive Graphorn who is initially aggressive toward you. Win a challenging battle against the big guy, and you’ll get the Lord of the Shore as a mount and a beast you can house in your Vivarium. However, this battle only gives you this one Graphorn, meaning you’ll have to venture out to find more if you want to breed them.
Fortunately, you won’t have to travel far. More specifically, you’ll have to return to this exact location after finishing San Bakar’s Trial if you want more Graphorns.
Following your final trial in Clagmar Coast, the Lord of the Shore’s fighting area will become a Graphorn Den. These Graphorn brutes are still hostile when you approach them, but, at the very least, you can use your Nab-Sack again once you defeat them in combat. By doing this, you can either return the Graphorns to your Vivarium or sell them for some extra pocket change.
How to Get a Shiny Graphorn
If you’re familiar with Pokemon, you’re likely familiar with the concept of shinies: color-swapped versions of your favorite creatures. Hogwarts Legacy follows suit here and allows you to find alternate-colored versions of all the critters that roam the lands around Hogwarts Castle, including Graphorns. Shiny Graphorns will have a greyish-white coloring to them instead of their usual brown tones.
Getting a shiny Graphorn in Hogwarts Legacy will likely take a bit of time and effort. There’s only the single Graphorn den, and only one Graphorn at a time will appear at the den. But the best method to grab a shiny Graphorn is to keep resetting the den until you find one that’s shiny.
So to get a shiny Graphorn:
- Go to the Graphorn den in Clagmar Coast.
- Capture the Graphorn.
- If the captured Graphorn isn’t shiny, fast travel away or change the time on the map to reset the den.
- Rinse and repeat.
After some time, you’ll eventually come across the shiny Graphorn of your dreams, and then you can shove it into your tiny bag. Note that you can do the same for other shiny beasts as well.
How to Breed Graphorn
You can breed Graphorns in Hogwarts Legacy by using a breeding pen in one of your Vivariums. Make sure the Vivarium you’re in is housing both a male and female Graphorn, then conjure a breeding pen using the Conjuring Spell. Now you can interact with the breeding pen and select the two Graphorn you want to breed. A timer will appear, and once the timer goes off, a new Graphorn will be born. You can then interact with the baby Graphorn to give it a name and do whatever you’d like with it.
Baby Graphorns (and any other baby beasts) will never grow up, and you won’t be able to use them as mounts. But you can sell them for some quick cash if you don’t mind the thought of tearing a family apart. Your player character may insist they’re not a poacher, but that doesn’t mean you can’t act like one and use your Vivariums as magical puppy mills.
How to Unlock Breeding Pens
If you don’t yet have access to breeding pens, you need to complete both Charles Rookwood’s Trial as a part of the main story and Deek’s Plight of the House-Elf side quest. Upon completion of those two quests, Deek will give you another side quest called Foal of the Dead. He’ll task you with rescuing two Thestrals, a male and a female.
After you have your two Thestrals, head over to Tomes and Scrolls in Hogsmeade and buy a Breeding Spellcraft for 1,000 coins. You can then head back to Deek, and he’ll give you access to the swamp Vivarium to release the Thestrals in. Deek will have you use the Conjuring Spell to conjure a breeding pen and use it with the Thestrals, but you’ll also be able to conjure breeding pens in other Vivariums as well and breed any other breasts you’d like.
