All Legendary Weapons in Baldur’s Gate 3
There are 13 different legendary weapons in Baldur’s Gate 3, and as players continue to explore, more weapons could appear. As the list grows, we will continue to add the items with their passives. For the time being, the full list of weapons can be found below.
The Blood of Lathander
The Blood of Lathander is found in the Secret Chamber under the Rosymorn Monsetery within the Gith’yanki Creche, Y’llek during Act One of Baldur’s Gate 3. More detailed information on How to Get the Blood of Lathander Mace can be found here.
- Type: Mace.
- First Effect: Lathander’s Blessing: Once per long rest, when your hit points are reduced to zero, you regain 2-12 hit points. Allies within nine meters regain 1-6 hit points.
- Second Effect: Lathander’s Light: Sheds holy light in a six meter radius. In combat, fiends and undead standing in the light are blinded, unless they pass a constitution save.
- Spell: Sunbeam.
Nyrulna
Nyrulna can be found by visiting the Circus of the Last Days in Act Three. You have to talk to the Djinn, Akabi, and spin his wheel as well as steal his ring. Akabi will then send you to the jungle where you’ll enter a portal to get the Nyrulna trident. Read How to Get Nyrulna Trident in BG3 to learn more details on obtaining this legendary weaponry.
- Type: Trident.
- First Effect: Zephyr Connection: This weapon will return to your hand when thrown. You cannot be forced to drop the trident. When thrown, the weapon creates an explosion that deals 3-12 thunder damage in a six meter blast.
- Second Effect: Veil of the Wind: You gain +3 meter bonus to movement speed and jump distance. Equipping this weapon gives you immunity to fall damage.
- Spell: Glows in an aura rather than providing a spell.
Crimson Mischief
To find the Crimson Mischief go to the Temple of Bhaal in Act Three of Baldur’s Gate. You have to defeat Orin the Red and loot her corpse. Just don’t push her off the edge! Read How to Get the Crimson Mischief in BG3 to get this flashy weapon.
- Type: Shortsword.
- First Effect: Prey Upon the Weak: This weapon deals an additional 1-4 piercing damage against targets below 50% HP.
- Second Effect: Redvein Savary (main-hand): When you make an attack with advantage, you deal 7 additional piercing damage.
- Spell: Ability modifier to off-hand attack.
Shar’s Spear of Evening
You can get Shar’s Spear of Evening during the Chosen of Shar questline where you have to obtain the Spear of Night first. You must kill Nightsong to get the Spear of Evening. Find out more by reading How to Get the Spear of Evening in Baldur’s Gate 3.
- Type: Spear.
- First Effect: Shar’s Blessing – You gain advantage on saving throws while Lightly or Heavily Obscured. This weapon deals an additional +1d6 to creatures that are similarly obscured.
- Second Effect: Blind Immunity – The wearer cannot be blinded.
- Spell: Shar’s Darkness.
Selune’s Spear of Night
This legendary spear is near the end of Act Two in the Gauntlet of Shar Treasure Room, connected to the Silent Library. Go inside this room, defeat the enemies and find the Teachings of Loss: The Nightsinger book and insert it it onto the Riddle of Night Pedastal. - Type: Spear.
- First Effect: Selune’s Blessing: You gain advantage on wisdom saving throws and perception checks.
- Second Effect: Darkvision: You can see in the dark up to 12 meters.
- Spell: Moonbeam and Moonmote.
Viconia’s Walking Fortress
Viconia’s Walking Fortress will be found in the House of Grief during Act Three. You have to kill Vivonia DeVir to loot the legendary item off of her corpse.
- Type: Shield.
- First Effect: Rebuke the Mighty: When a foe hits you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to deal 2-8 force damage and knock it prone unless it succeeds a Dexterity check.
- Second Effect: Spellguard: You gain advantage on saving throws against spells. Spell attack rolls against you have disadvantage.
- Spell: Warding Guard and Reflective Shell.
Bloodthirst
Bloodthirst is found in the Temple of Bhaal during Act Three. Killing Orin the Red and looting her body should get you this legendary dagger.
- Type: Dagger
- First Effect: Improved Critical: The number you need to roll a Critical Hit while attacking is reduced by 1. This effect can stack.
- Second Effect: Exploit Weakness (main-hand): Creatures hit with this weapon receive vulnerability to piercing damage. (Off-hand True Strike).
- Spell: True Strike.
Devotee’s Mace
There is no location for this mace as it requires a level 10 Cleric to cast the spell, Divine Intervention – Arm Thy Faithful. This will make the mace appear as a tangible and useable item throughout your playthrough. Divine Intervention can only be used once throughout the entire game, so make sure this mace is really what you want.
- Type: Mace.
- First Effect: Healing Incense Aura: A class action (Level 10 Cleric) that can be used to maneuver across the battlefield allowing you to harm or aid characters.
- Second Effect: Proficiency unlocks include Concussive Smash and Back Breaker.
- Spell: This weapon comes with no spells.
Markoheshkir
The Markoheshkir quarterstaff is located at Sourcerous Sundries in Ramazith’s Tower. In the tower, you’re going to want to head to the balcony, jump or fly to the lower area of the balcony then deactivate the arcane barrier to access the legendary staff.
- Type: Quarterstaff.
- First Effect: Arcane Enchantment: You gain a +1 bonus to Spell Saves DC and spell attack rolls.
- Second Effect: Arcane Batter: Alleviate the arcane burden of spellcasting with the power of this staff. The next spell you cast doesn’t cost a spell cost.
- Spell: Kereska’s Favor.
Duelist’s Prerogative
The location of this legendary item will at The Blushing Mermaid during Act Three. Continuing the Mayrina and Auntie Ethel quest from Act 1 where you’re locating a child name Vanra. You have to locate Mayrina who will help you put together a potion that will forcefully make the hag give up the child. Once the quest is done, you will get the rapier.
- Type: Rapier.
- First Effect: Elegant Duelist: While your off-hand is empty, you score a Critical Hit when rolling a 19. Moreover, you gain an additional reaction per turn.
- Second Effect: Withering Cut: On a hit with a melee weapon, use a reaction to deal additional Necrotic damage equal to your Proficiency Bonus.
- Spell: Challenge to Duel.
Gontr Mael
You will find this legendary weapon at the Steel Watch Foundry in Act Three. Eliminate the Steel Watcher Titan in the southwestern area of the Lower City. Loot the weapon off of the titan and do this before you tell the NPC to blow up the foundry or the Gontr Mael will not be available.
- Type: Bow.
- First Effect: Promised Victory: On a hit, possibly inflict the Guiding Bolt on a target.
- Second Effect: Glowing: Toggle this effect to have the item shine with glowing light in a radius of 6m.
- Spell: Celestial Haste.
Balduran’s Giantslayer
The item is found in Act Three at Wyrmway. Save the Duke Ravengard and escape the underwater prison to learn about a lair hidden below the city. Finish the trials there, defeat the dragon, Ansur and loot the weapon off of him.
- Type: Greatsword.
- First Effect: Giantslayer: On a hit, double the damage from your Strength Modifier. This weapon grants you Advantage on Attack Rolls against Large, Huge, or Gargantuan creatures.
- Second Effect: Giant Form: A class action that enlarges the user to a fearsome size, as well as gain 27 temporary HP and dealing 1d6 damage.
- Spell: This weapon comes with no spells.
Orphic Hammer
The Orphic Hammer will be found in Act Three. You will have to speak to the devil, Raphael at The House of Hope. Dealing with devil comes with a cost of course and that is signing a contract that ensures Raphael will get the crown from the Elder Brain when the story is over. - Type: Warhammer.
- First Effect: Damage: 1d10 +3 bludgeoning.
- Second Effect: Spell Resistance: You have Advantage on Saving Throws against spells.
- Spell: Unshackling Strike .

There are four different legendary armors in Baldur’s Gate 3, and as players continue to explore, more armors could appear. As the list grows, we will continue to add the items and their passives.
Shapeshifter’s Mask
This item can be found at your camp when you purchase the Deluxe Edition of Baldur’s Gate 3. After purchasing the Deluxe Edition, the Shapeshifter’s Mask should be found within your Traveler’s Chest.
- Type: Helmet.
- First Effect: Grants you with the Shapeshift spell when equipped.
- Spell: Shapeshift.
Helm of Balduran
The location of the Helm of Balduran is found in Act 3 in Wyrmway. To get this helmet you will have to defeat Ansur and check the alter in the back to obtain the Balduran Helmet.
- Type: Helmet.
- First Effect: Balduran’s Vitality: The helmet restores an additional two HP at the beginning of your turn.
- Second Effect: Balduran’s Favor: You gain an additional one point bonus to Armor Class and Saving Throws.
- Spell: Stun Immunity: You cannot be Stunned. Attackers can’t land Critical Hits on you.
Helldusk Armor
The Helldusk Armor can be found in the House of Hope in Act Three. Head to the Feast Hall and go to the wall behind it where you will find an Inert Infernal Gem. - Type: Chestpiece.
- First Effect: Infernal Retribution: When you succeed a saving throw, the caster receives Burning for 3 rounds.
- Second Effect: Prime Aegis of Fire: You have resistance for fire damage and cannot be burned. You take 3 less damage from all sources.
- Spell: Fly.
Gloves of Soul Catching
The Gloves of Soul Catching will also be found in the House of Hope in Act Three. Use the Orphic Hammer to free Hope from the prison via the hatch. Kill Raphael to gain these legendary gloves.
- Type: Gloves.
- First Effect: Soul Fist: Your unarmed attacks deal an additional 1~10 Force Damage.
- Second Effect: Soul Catching: Once per turn, on an unarmed hit, you regain 10 hit points. Alternatively, you may forego healing to gain Advantage on Attack Rolls and Saving Throws until the end of your next turn.
- Spell: This item comes with no spells but does grant an addition two points in Constitution.
BG3 is a massive game with an extensive list of weapon types, and as you can see from the list, every weapon type isn’t featured. That could change with some more progress into the game, and there are additional legendary items as well, so keep an eye out.
Best Weapons to Use in BG3
Now that you know what the legendary weapons are, which ones are best in their class? Here are the ones we consider to be the cream of the crop:
Best Dagger: Knife of the Undermountain King
The Knife of the Undermountain King is obtained by buying it from A’jak’nir Jeera in Crèche Y’llek. You can also loot it off of them as well. This dagger has high damage modifiers, along with the ability Organ Rearranger, which allows you a dice mulligan if you rolled too low on attack.
- Damage: 1d6 + 2 (3-8) Piercing.
- Enchantment: +2.
- Finesse.
- Light.
- Price: 1200 GP.
- Organ Rearranger: Reduce the number you need to roll a Critical Hit while attacking by 1. When they roll 2 damage or less, reroll the dice, taking the highest result.
- Shadow Blade: You have Advantage on Attack rolls against Lightly or Heavily Obscured targets when using this blade.
Best Longsword: Phalar Aluve
Don’t be fooled by the Phalar Aluve only being rare, it does exceptionally well in capable hands. It has the Phalar Aluve: Melody ability, which allows you to buff your friends and debuff your foes with the Sing and Shriek abilities. This lets you stack stupid amounts of damage very quickly.
You’ll find this weapon plunged deep in a rock in the Underdark at coordinates X: 116 Y: -192.
- Damage: 1d10 + 1 (2-11) Slashing.
- Enchantment: +1.
- Finesse.
- Price: 250 GP.
- Performance +1.
- Phalar Aluve: Melody: The sword hums in anticipation, ready to Sing or Shriek. Effect ends when Phalar Aluve is unequipped.
Best Rapier: Duellist’s Prerogative
This sword can be yours after finishing the Save Vanra quest. The Duellist’s Prerogative is a legendary rapier that does exceptionally well in combat. We’re particularly fond of its Elegant Duellist ability, which guarantees a Critical Hit when you roll a 19 or higher.
- Damage: 1d4 Necrotic damage – 1d8 Piercing damage.
- Enchantment: +3.
- Finesse.
- One-handed.
- Price: 1300 GP.
- Elegant Duellist: While your off-hand is empty, you score a Critical Hit when rolling a 19. Moreover, you gain an additional Reaction per turn.
- Withering Cut: On a hit with a melee weapon, use a Reaction to deal additional Necrotic damage equal to your Proficiency Bonus.
- Challenge to Duel: Challenge an enemy to attack only you, inflicting Bleeding on the target. at will.
Best Bow: Gontr Mael
The Gontr Mael is an unmatched bow. You can get it after killing the Steel Watch Titan in Steel Watch Foundry. Its ability Gontr Mael: Glowing is excellent for lighting up dark areas and invisible enemies.
- Damage: 1d8+3 Piercing.
- Range: 18m.
- Weapon Enchantment: +3.
- GP: 1000.
- Promised Victory: On a hit, possibly inflict Guiding Bolt upon the target.
- Gontr Mael: Glowing: This object shines with a glowing light in a radius of 6m
- Celestial Haste: 5 turns Haste without LEthargic condition at the end.
- Bolt of Celestial Light: Deal 1d8 Radiant damage. Frighten your target with intimidating arrows. After attacking, ranged weapon attacks with Gontr Mael deal an additional 1-4 Radiant damage.
