What better way to explore Palworld’s environment, catch some adorable pals, and potentially cook them into delicious meals than enjoying the experience with a few friends? Let’s talk about whether Palworld has multiplayer and co-op support.
Is Palworld a Multiplayer Game?
Yes, Palworld has multiplayer support, allowing you to play with up to three friends through the game’s co-op menu. Alternatively, if you have a larger friend group or want to invite more people to the party, you can create a dedicated server that supports up to 32 players.
Additionally, if you initially create a single-player character and wish to use it in multiplayer, you can do this with a slight catch. Your character data is bound to your starter world, which isn’t shared across servers or other saves. However, if you host a co-op game through your world, you can use your starting character, with your friends having to start fresh.
At launch, Palworld will support multiple modes of playing, from offline in single-player to online with friends and through dedicated servers. Pocketpair will have official servers available at launch to join, but you can also create your own. You’ll be able to experience the game as usual, including catching pals and survival base-building, but alongside others in the same world.
However, there is a caveat: Palworld’s initial launch will not support cross-play. While Pocketpair plans to introduce cross-play functionality in the future, it’ll take time for them to implement it. In other words, if you’re on PC and your friends are on Xbox, you won’t be able to play together until this is introduced. Likewise, if you’re playing through Steam, you can’t play with friends who have the game through PC Game Pass.
Outside of this temporary restriction, you can play Palworld with any friend who owns the game on your platform through regular co-op or dedicated servers. Once PocketPair adds cross-play compatibility, you can play with friends on other platforms. This also includes playing with friends on PS5 if Pocketpair releases a PlayStation version post-launch.
