Warframe’s fishing system is a lot more in-depth than you might expect from a game where that’s a mere fraction of what you’ll be engaging with. You have all sorts of bait, different spears, different times of day for different fish, hotspots, and a lot more. That’s not even including what you can get from the fish, which offers up a ton of new ways to get mastery. One fish tends to trip a lot of players up when heading into the Orb Vallis. Here’s how you can catch a Synathid in Warframe.
Where to Find the Synathid Fish in Warframe
The Synathid is found within cave bodies of water across the Orb Vallis. It can generally only be found in hotspots, with Synathid bait recommended to catch it. If you’re new to fishing, you’ll need to speak with The Business in Fortuna and acquire both a Shock Fishing Spear (either Shockprod or Stunna works fine) along with a heap of Synathid bait. Getting some will cost you a few hundred Standing a piece, and I suggest you grab a few. Once you have those items, head into the Orb Vallis.
Once there, you’re going to want to look for caves that house water you can fish in. There’s a ton across the Orb Vallis, but I tend to use either the cave Northwest of the Reflector Control landmark, or the one South of the same location. The cave in between the Grow Site and Ustara Crater is great too. Once you find one, you’ll want to check if the water has a hotspot within it. You can use the image we provided above for reference.

Once you have a cave with water and a hotspot, pull out your fishing spear from your Gear Wheel and throw the Synathid bait into it. Soon enough, the surprisingly small fish will appear. From there, it’s fishing just like normal.
What is the Synathid Useful For?
No matter if you catch a Basic, Adorned, or Magnificent Synathid, you will always get the same amount of its exclusive Synathid Ecosynth Analyzer. The only thing that will change is the Scrap, which ranges between 4-8 depending on the fish type. Each fish gives one Synathid Ecosynth Analyzer, with that resource being used for the following recipes:
- Baruuk Neuroptics – 5 Synathid Ecosynth Analyzer
- Haztech Mask – 15 Synathid Ecosynth Analyzer
- Helstrum – 1 Synathid Ecosynth Analyzer
- Kubrodon Ventkid Mask – 15 Synathid Ecosynth Analyzer
- Larkspur – 5 Synathid Ecosynth Analyzer
- Outrider Mask – 15 Synathid Ecosynth Analyzer
- Smelter Mask – 15 Synathid Ecosynth Analyzer
- Splat Loader – 5 Synathid Ecosynth Analyzer
- Vent Pobber Ventkid Mask – 15 Synathid Ecosynth Analyzer
- Vent Rat Mask – 15 Synathid Ecosynth Analyzer
If you’re only going after mastery, then the Baruuk Neuroptics, Helstrum, Larkspur, and optionally the Splat Loader will be all you care about. These come out to 26 Synathid Ecosynth Analyzer. If you care about cosmetics as well, then you’ll need a staggering 116 Synathid Ecosynth Analyzer. If that’s your end goal, then you’ll need a lot of bait.
