At the PlayStation Showcase event in May 2023, one of the biggest surprises was the teaser trailer for the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater. In addition to the excitement that we will get a remake of one of the most beloved games in the series, this news also marked the return of this forgotten Konami franchise that was in a state of limbo since 2015 when Hideo Kojima left the company and founded his own studio.
So, Metal Gear Solid is back, and the Snake Eater remake comes with a brand new title – Metal Gear Solid Delta, but how long will we have to wait in order to eat some frogs and snakes in the jungle? Let’s find out.
Does Metal Gear Solid Delta (Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake) Have a Release Date?
For now, the release date is not known for Metal Gear Solid Delta, nor is it known which development team is working on it. Is it Konami’s internal team, or did they outsource it again like it has been the case with the also recently announced remake of Silent Hill 2? A lot is unknown at the moment – but for some things, such as the release date, we can give an educated guess.
If we consider that Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1, the compilation of remasters of the first thee Solid games, which was also announced at the same PlayStation Showcase, is coming in the fall of this year, it is very certain that the remake of Snake Eater will not arrive before then, nor in that time frame. So, at the earliest, we can expect that the release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta would fall somewhere between winter 2023 and spring 2024 – but that is just our guess.

Metal Gear Solid Delta Release Platforms Listed
Although it was officially announced at the PlayStation event, there is no sign of Metal Gear Solid Delta exclusivity to Sony’s brand. As announced immediately after the event, the remake of Snake Eater will be released at the same time for the following platforms:
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X|S
- PC Steam
So, no last-gen consoles and Nintendo Switch for the remake. As for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1, no platform other than PlayStation (possibly 4 and 5) has been announced for now, although it would be nice to see these classic titles on other systems as well, especially on Nintendo Switch.
