Despite Endnight Games announcing that the previous major patch was the last patch before the game’s full release, we’ve received a “small” hotfix in the middle of the night. Here are the patch notes for this December 6, 2023 update for Sons of the Forest.

Endnight Games Comment on the December 6 2023 Sons of the Forest Hotfix

Even though a download of 1.32 GB greeted me when I booted up Steam this morning, in hindsight there’s nothing major added to Sons of the Forest with this hotfix:

Hey everyone,

Here is a small update with some balance tweaks and some fixes.

If you missed the last major patch notes, feel free to check them out below:

Sons of the Forest December 6, 2023 Hotfix Full Update Notes

  • Updated unity version
  • Rebalanced Hydration, fullness, and Health values for consumable items for regular and hard survival
  • Increased Armor health for all armor types
  • Adjusted some Cooking recipes and values
  • Fixed issues with Seasonal assets sometimes reverting to incorrect materials
  • Fixed some cooking recipes not applying their buffs correctly
  • Fixed Cooked Ramen noodle recipe loading incorrectly in save games
  • Fixed blurry particles on Fire Arrows and Lava Splash effect
  • Fixed some items appearing pink on crafting mat in certain cases

There are quite a few balance changes and bug fixes, and I hope they will make Sons of the Forest more enjoyable for most players. The reason for this patch’s size is probably the Unity version’s update, and I truly hope that this will raise the performance level on older PCs.

In the end, the developers ask for more feedback from the community, as per usual:

As always, please continue to post your bug reports and feedback in the Discussions area of the Community Hub.
